About Me
Stephen Cyr, LPC
EMDR-Trained | IFS-Informed | CBT Trained | DBT Trained | Gottman-Trained
My therapeutic journey started when I realized I love accompanying people in the most difficult and dark places in their life. I’ve had my own journey through mental health struggles, so I understand from a personal stance how challenging life can be in the midst of severe trials and chaos.
I grew up in Dallas, TX as the second of four boys. I graduated from Thomas Aquinas College, where I studied Theology and Philosophy, and afterwards, I worked at a behavioral health hospital. At the hospital I quickly learned that counseling was a perfect fit for me. I pursued a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Liberty University, and since graduating in 2023, I have immensely enjoyed walking alongside people and giving tools to help my clients heal and flourish. For my internships and practicums in graduate school, I worked in clinics specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Theory (DBT). Since graduation, I have been able to continue my training through learning Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) trauma therapy, and Gottman couple’s therapy. All of these modalities have helped me expand my knowledge and practice in the field of clinical mental health. I firmly believe that people are made to flourish. I want to help you reach a place where you can feel confident, stable, joyful, and peaceful.
